In this beginner Poi workshop you will learn basic movements and terminology. We’ll work our way through some exercises to learn timing, direction and plane control. You will learn to work the Poi on the reel, wall, and floor planes and how to weave around your body. For those already familiar with the basics, we will work on some variations of these moves. This workshop is great for total beginners and those quite new to Poi.
Intermediate: Stalls and Chasers - 3:00pm
In this workshop you will learn to let the Poi take the lead. Stalls are a super cool end elegant move that involves allowing the Poi head to take the lead from your hand. When you stall the Poi, for a moment, it seems to freeze in the air. From stalls you can build stall chasers. I will teach a basic stall chaser. For those that can already do stalls and basic stall chasers, I will teach some cool variations on the theme.
